Kit grew up on his family’s Pokemon ranch not far off of Barcroft town. Their acreage was nothing grandiose or extravagant, just enough for the family to work on and pass down the generations. His ma and pa, Kassie and Morgan, raised Kit and his twin sister Haddie to be hard workers.
Haddie was always the more outgoing of the two, always making friends at school and church- easily connecting with others while her much less social brother struggled. Kit didn’t find it all too easy to make friends, much preferring to head straight home and work with the pokemon on the farm. They were a lot easier than people to get along with- no hidden meanings or social rules he was expected to pick up.
When they got older, Haddie went off to battle the league, wanting to spread her wings and explore the region- meet new people and find love and adventure. Meanwhile- Kit stayed back at the farm, having no interest in this grand idea his sister held. As the years passed Haddie’s time of adventure came and went and she brought home a traveling partner who would later become her husband and father to their child. Ari.
Haddie’s child was so much like their mother it was uncanny. Ari was wild and rambunctious, Kit often having to pull her back from the nursing Camerupt and keep her from sticking her fingers up the Numel calves' noses.
As Ari got older, Haddie’s health began to worsen, but she refused to let it get in the way of Ari’s life. When Ari turned eighteen, Haddie urged them to go on their own league adventure and spread their wings just like their mother had. Ari called often, joyously updating their mom on all their pokemon they had caught and friends she had made. Whenever they asked about Haddie’s health though, their mother waved it off, saying she was on the road to recovery! That Ari wouldn't even need to visit her since she would be strong enough come spring to go meet up with Ari in the city.
Kit knew his sister was lying straight through her teeth, and he could tell Ari was catching on as well- her father’s smile becoming more strained on every video call, Haddie’s cheekbones becoming more apparent.
When winter came and Haddie’s health took a turn for the worse- Kit and Haddie argued. Kit insisted that she needed to tell Ari, that they deserved to know incase the worse were to come- while Haddie refused. She didn't want to make Ari come back from her journey early, to drop everything just to come see her.
Haddie believed Ari deserved the freedom of not knowing.
Kit believed that Ari deserved the truth.
He called Ari early one morning, before even the Pokemon had awoken, and told them everything. Ari was rightfully livid with their parents, and set off to come home immediately.
But as the rough winter dragged on, and the weather worsened, Ari never arrived. Her calls had stopped and none of them had heard a word from her since the call Kit had made behind his sister’s back.
It was when the snow began to melt with the first signs of spring, that Ari’s partner Pokemon showed up. Kit had no idea how it had gotten here, but he recognised it from the calls, always joyfully on Ari’s shoulder or asleep against her side. It had never been to the ranch before, and how was it here, and even more pressing… why was it here without Ari?

Kit would then set out trying to retrace Ari’s steps and figure out where exactly they had gone.

He hates being called by his first name by strangers, too personal. They usually call him Graham.
Kit often got into physical fights as a kid, not really helping the fact he struggled making friends.
